Anna-9: Dear friend, I'm glad that I have possibility to write to you. I hope, you will receive this letter, when you will have time of your disposal. I would like to hear your thoughts, when you will read next reasoning. I can't know your opinion about modern conception of word “ Humanism”. So I can write only my ideas of this question. I can't deny, my words are intricate and, may be, cruel, but I want to tell you exactly it. Your reactions aren't all the same to me. Humanism is ornamental mask for people, who aren't loaded with exalted ideals, isn't it? I think Humanism of Renaissance was better than modern-day equivalent. When we exalt individual, we must understand our responsibility before us. Our statement about admissible for human deprive us of variants, which infringe it, as any another axiom. This axiom deprives such variants for us, but I know people, whom have purpose, denying principle of humanism! What way they will select! This theory limits its followers. It helps people, which can't called humanists! Humanism justify people, which were blackguards at past. For example, man infringed laws to become rich. After that he is engaged in philanthropy… Is humanism fair in its principles? No, it isn't. Our example demonstrates duplicity and meanness of such assertions. But other people live near us. They say: ‘I wasn't educated like that”. Is it useful for them? How often it gets in their way! It is only my reasoning. I have not right to make you agree with me. СCHESSTER: Dear Anna! I like clever girls, but sometimes it is very difficult to understand you.Anna, I think that it is a little wrong to compare humanism of Renaissance and modern humanism . And how do you understand a concept "modern humanism."? Certainly people lived and thought in time of Renaissance not as now. The word humanist during the renaissance initially only defined a concern for humanity, and many early humanists saw no dichotomy between this and their Christian faith. Now humanism is a democratic and ethical life stance, which affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. It stands for the building of a more humane society through an ethic based on human and other natural values in the spirit of reason and free inquiry through human capabilities. It is not theistic, and it does not accept supernatural views of reality. This is only definitions,no more. The rest depends on people. Any definition, any idea can be perverted and made convenient for them or for the concrete person. Am I not right? Humanism is considered to be a philosophy of Renesance. Vick: I would like to correspond with usual person. All the same in what country he or she lives, if only they speak English.I don't care if they do sports or play the flute. It seems to me that it is better to learn about the person from his letters, that is when you know nothing about him it is more interesting to learn everything about him from his correspondence than to write about what you know beforehand. It is possible to get casually friend, and if you know about what to write (on a certain theme), dialogue will be boring (may be), short and it is possible to receive the enemy or the contender, instead of the friend. Nowadays I study poetry of the Silver Age, I mean the successors of Alexander Pushkin. Especially I like Alexander Block. It would be great if you might tell me something about your favorite writers. Reflecting on literature, I was born in the end of the XXth century. This time is considered to be an epoch of new technologies and I believe that new discoveries strictly contradict the concept of structural completeness of the world. That what used to seem stable, turned out to be changeable and eternally movable. We were discussing technical progress in the class and decided that good rate of progress means not only moving forward, but brings change for the worse in ecology and tension in political situation with it . Laws of living were discovered long time ago (I mean the Ten Commandments of Jesus Christ), unfortunately people cannot and what is more don’t want to live in peace. I asked my friends what they would like to change in the future. Personally I want to invent a water engine, because there is so much water on the Earth; one of my classmates Pasha wants to invent an eternal coverage for roads. The others want to improve a medical care system. Olga and Liza would like to build an orphan asylum and develop charity in the world. Also, I think it would be nice to create such school subject as Family an Society Studies, ‘cause we have to teach people how to love one another and to be wise. Moreover, each school needs a good psychologist in order teachers might discover all kids’ talent, though I think I am quite lucky concerning this, as my teacher is looking for a sparkle of talent in each of us.
