Алсагаров С.Э.: Good morning (and all other parts of day)! My name Semyon, but my close friends call me Semak (I think they call me so because I play football not bad). I hope you will be able to call me in the same way (let’s become friends! ). I am in the tenth form of Ust-Ordinsky Secondary School #1 placed in Siberia in 66 km from Irkutsk. English takes the third position in a list of my favorite subjects (after Physics and Maths) but don’t think that I’m not really interested in it. I take part in all our school language Olympiads and often in the regional Olympiads. I took the first place in school competition «Young Translator» (if you don’t praise yourself, nobody will praise you ). I was working hard and I was very happy when I had heard the results. And so when I have heard about the Olympiad with the topic «Translator» I decided to take part in it in any way. I was a participant of several Eidos Olympiads and know that tasks are always very interesting and unusual. They are able to make you see the usual subjects in the different ways and I want to see English language in any special way and to improve it. That’s why I am taking part in it and of course I want to become a winner. I hope my fantasy and experience will help me to gain these aims.

I took part in some of the Olympiads and often took 1 or 2 places. I am pleased with my results. Also,I have been learning the English language for 7 years. I am taking part in the Olympiad , because I want to try to test my forces in the English language again. My friends , grandfather and teacher help me to gain my aims,but sometimes my friends need help. My grandfather knows English very good , I'm sure in this. Андрей Мишутин: Hello, my name is Andrew Mishutin. I live in the town Severomorsk behind the Polar Circle. It’s neither big, nor small town with 75000 population. Though this fact, our town has some places of interest like submarine-museum K-21, monument to the defenders of the Polar Region called “Alesha” and the monument of the warplane. Each year we have school’s, our town’s and regional olianpiads of English, which I participate in. So, in the 2008 I won the 1st prize in the school’s olimpiad, in the 2010 I won the international contest “British Bulldog”, 2nd place in the school’s and our town’s competiton. In 2013 I became the winner of the school’s competition. As for me, this contest is very important for myself because I would like to know if I really good in English or not. I was told that it’s a difficult olimiad, but interesting. Of course, each person has his own ways how to achieve something, but as for me, I think that the thing that helps me to gain an aim is my character and the support of my friends and relatieves.

I open new words in English, translate a lot of good texts, try myself in translating experience. I like the task 2 about Humpty Dumpty. It was funny to translate kiddie rhyme in 4 temperaments. And the main purpose was to give characteristics of temperaments, their strong aspects. I can`t translate for a long time song of the group "Zemlyane". I tried to save the meaning of the song and tell about it beautifully. Finally I translate this song and I think I make some cover of the song What about slogan. The task that made me smile was the second task with the spring song, because video was funny. 3. The hardest part for me was translation of the text about space trips, because there were some Russian words which are hard to translate into English. To do this task I needed to find synonyms which I could translate to English. 4. I don’t have questions to no one.
Akininanastya: I really enjoy this Olympiad as everyone. It was very interesting. I think that this tasks help us to develop our imagination. I believe that the third exercise was the most successful, because as for me, it is easy to compose verses in Russian. A lot of time and great mood helped me to do this task. The second one was really funny, because we need to show emotions and character of person. It is hard, but interesting to compose the same verse differently. The most difficult was the 4th. The second task was funny, because it requires translation the children's poem about the fairy-tale hero from different points of view. The third task was also a poem about laziness and the Internet addiction. I like it because it shows the challenging problem of modern life. I have difficulty when I doing Task No 4. Translating songs is very difficult, because the rhyming Russian verses cannot coincide with the Russian rhymes and create very complicated combinations that are unique to the Russian language. I would like to offer the motto for the creative translator - «The longer the text, the more space for creativity». This motto means that, if the text is long, it is possible to better understand its meaning and show creative abilities in interpreting a foreign text. No doubt, doing such tasks has required a lot of questions. I would like to ask the participants of the Olympiad some questions. First of all, I wonder if it is possible to translate rhymes without losing their sense. Secondly, isn’t it difficult to show what temperament has while translating a short well-known rhyme about Humpty-Dumpty. What's more, the Task #4 caused me the most positive emotions. To translate the Russian song is very interesting, because you are helping to understand this song to English-speaking people. I dare say that some participants may not cope with the Task #4. It's very difficult and requires a good knowledge of grammar and a large vocabulary. I would like to offer the motto "The art of translation is the art of thinking" for the creative translator. I would like to appreciate my involving in such a challenging creative project. It required a lot of efforts for me and in my opinion I have made all I was able to do. I feel proud of myself. 2. The most positive emotions caused the second task. I don't know which tasks of all I completed the best, because I don't like to estimate my work before the results are revealed, but all in all I have a good impression because the tasks were'nt so difficult as they could be, as for me. I hope my opinion will acquit in my result. I managed to complete all the tasks by my own fantasy and aim to do my best. 2. The most positive emotions were caused by the task named "My Earth", because I like music very much, though I never tried to translate the song from English into Russian poetically. But the most significant is the problem with reducing unnecessary words in russian translations! That's my problem - I always have to say more than needed. I study in Gymnasium №1, in 10th form. 2) I have good results in learning English. I am an excellent student. I took part in different English olympiads and succeed in them. Also, I can speak with different people all over the world ( thanks to modern technologies, such as Skype.) 3) I decided to take part, because, firstly, it is very interesting. And it was so interesting to translate this little funny poem so as to preserve the meaning, make the lazy person move and smile. 3) The most difficult task for me was the fourth, because I like the song of “Zemlyane" and I want to accurately convey the pleasure, which I always feel listening to this song. 4) Just believe in yourself. I’m in tenth grade of Ust-Orda Secondary School #1, which is located in the Irkutsk region. I really love my little home. It is very beautiful! Powerful, the deepest lake in the world – Lake Baikal is located seventy kilometers. In our area endless fields, dense forest, fast flowing rivers extend, there is even a mountain. The nature of my countryside is great! I admire it. I love English, it gives inspiration and helps relax me. It is perfectly to know English songs, poems, and be ably to read English books, use your vocabulary in the English language. Therefore, it's great to know the language of such greats as William Shakespeare, George Gordon Noel Byron, Oscar Wilde and Charlotte Bronte (she is one of my favorite writers). I have won some of them but i don't regard it as the best result. For me, the only significant achievement is my ability to chat in English freely. I took part in this Olympiad last year and i liked it so much that i couldn't resist the temptation to participate this year. The second reason for participating is my desire to distract from preparing for school exams and to relax. Кунгурова Е.И.: I’d like to share my impressions of this great event in my life named “Eidos”. For me, the surprise of the day was that I could rhyme English words; I would never think I was able to do something like that. I really tried to do my best translating the song, keeping the subject safe and creating a form. It was really fun, though. So, it was the task that caused my most positive emotions. The difficulty was connected with the first task where I had to create different characters based on one rhyme; it was really hard because it required psychological knowledge, too. I don’t know if I managed it, at least I tried. The motto was “If you get tired, just stop, exhale and go make some tea”. I’d like to ask other participants “Have you found a translator in yourself finally? And what conclusions you’ve made after participating in this Olympiad? ”
Ryabova Daria: WOW! I`ve already finished the Olympiad. It`s seems to me, it was rather difficult and cognitive. As for me, the most complicated and perplexing task was about temperaments. I read lots of psychological articles before making it. I have to say, they helped me to cope with Humpty-Dumpty. Despite this little problem, I was pleased that organizers of the Olympiad mentioned “Alice in Wonderland”. This is my favourite book and I was much impressed by it. It was adorable to give Humpty-Dumpty a fall over and over again. Talking about motto, I`m sure these ones will be suitable for such Olympiad: ” You can do anything you set your mind to”; ” Imagine – Believe – Achieve”; ” Do your absolute best, and have a good time!” In reality, it was the first time I took part in such kind of Olympiad. Андрей Мишутин: Honestly, I participate in this competition for the 1st time, so my best results will be those, what I’ll achieve now. I guess, it was a difficult olimpiad, but task 2, I think is the hardest for me. And talking about task 4, I can say that the most positive emotions were caused by this task, because the 1st man who flied into space was Yuri Gagarin. Of course I had some difficulties when I was doing the olimpiad, especially with task 3, because it’s always not easy to translate poems. But I cope with it. I think that a creative translator can offer a motto by himself, but it will be cool to if the motto is like that: “Don’t give up and don’t hesitate to be funny, creative”. Well, it’s interesting for me who has created such an interesting olimpiad and what was the prerequisite to create it?

Nikolay: I think I did my best but I’m not sure if it is an excellent work. I tried very hard doing these tasks. Of course, I had some difficulties but I overcame them. What about other tasks, they weren’t so hard, as for me. I’d like to take part in this competition again! Most of all I preferred task №3 because it made do the warm-up and it caused positive emotions. I like tasks like these. They are very unusual! The most difficult task for me was the second, because it was necessary to do four variants of the translation so that it will be easy to understand what temperament the narrator has. At the beginning, I have been trying to figure out how to do it, but in the end I guessed. Then I just used my imagination and skills. Firstly, never give up! Secondly, never doubt yourself! You do what you can but if you believe in yourself, you will move mountains single-handed! Oh, English attracts me because in future I want to travel and to be a translator. It really fascinates me. Тагласова А.: In this Olympiad, I realized that the English language is not just a translation, grammar rules, the ability to read in English, but it is also the ability to think beautiful, unusual, creative and cool. Being a participant of this contest is not new for me, as since the 8th form I've been taking part in it every year, so now it is almost a matter of habbit. As for the things which help me to gain my aims, basically it's all about hard work and dedication, which usually make up for the lack of talent. Good luck to all of you!

So, I wanted to put all in the head on the shelves. During the Olympics, I was drawn to break rules and standards of the English language. My English teacher has helped me in the Olympiad. She has corrected some errors and explained them.

Because I like my poem. 2.When I did the third task I was very glad, because it was exciting for me. 3.It was hard to translate words and sentences for me. Алина Мелинг: 1. I think, the best task I did in this Olympic is # 2, because I'm keen on listening to different songs on English and translate them. It's very interesting! 2. I had the most emotion when I did the job # 4, because I liked this text and it was interesting for me to translate it 3. I don't speak English very well and I had some problems with a translation, but I used a dictionary. 4. Motto: "Can we always understand each other. Language barrier for us is a nonsense" 5. So, I love this Olympic very much! But it was very hard to do it for a bit time. Will be more Olympics like this?
Nastya Pershina: I have already finished the Olympiad. Every task was rather unusual and intricate. Although I liked every task, my favourite one is the second because I'm fond of psychology. I have to admit that the most difficult one for me was exercise 4. It needed all my patience and stubbornness to write a poem that suits the music! I think that posibble motto for the creative translator is " break the rules and keep your mind open" Question that interests me most of all is "how much time have the organizers spent on creating Olympiad?"

Исмаилова Лейла: All tasks were interesting and not so difficult. I think it is so because I have been studying English for several years already and I took part in the previous Olympiads. Best of all I liked the task №2. It was cool and I had a great fun doing it. I hadn't got any difficulties. It was a great pleasure for me. My motto was: "Do all the best!" I'd like to ask the following questions: Did you like the Olympiad? Was it easy or difficult for you? What task did you like best of all How do you feel after Olympiad? Did you get any pleasure participating in this Olympiad?
Полина Жванко: Story about me has turned the best of all tasks which I've done. Task "Meet the spring!" was the most funny and interesting. It's very original. I really liked the girl who sang a song about spring. This job amused me. During the quest, I could not to gather strength and start their implementation. But I used to achieve my aims "Slim thought. Clarity of meaning" I think it's a great motto for a creative interpreter. Dear participants, how often do you translate texts? Would you like to be a translator in the future?

Константинова Настя: 1. Сегодня у меня больше всего получалось переводить песню №2 на русский язык в стихотворной форме, потому что весна - моё любимое время года и я хорошо рифмую предложения. 2. Больше всего позитивных эмоций у меня вызвало задание №2, потому что оно связано с весной, а весна - моё любимое время года. 3. У меня не было особых трудностей со всеми заданиями, но, если говорить искренне, я считаю, что участникам было дано мало времени, и из-за этого задания пришлось выполнять в полсилы и в меньшем объёме. 4. Переведи текст в своих красках, опираясь на текст, не сильно уходи от темы, и тебя ждёт успех! 5.Вопрос участникам Какое волнение у вас (участников) было сильнее: перед олимпиадой (на сколько сложные будут вопросы и хватит ли вам времени на выполнение всех заданий) или после олимпиады (какой у вас результат)? Вопрос организаторам Почему песня из задания №2 напечатана не полностью для лучшего понимания содержания песни?

Крысина Алина: Я считаю, что задание, с которым я справилась лучше всего, это перевод стихотворения "exercises". Для достижения хороших результатов мне пришлось смотреть перевод некоторых слов в словаре. Позитивные эмоции у меня вызвало задание на перевод песни, так как оно было связано с Днем космонавтики. Небольшие трудности возникли с переводом четверостишья в четырех разных вариантах, так как очень сложно по разному перевести одно и то же. Девиз : "If you don't succeed at first, try, try again!". Вопрос к участникам : " Удалось ли вам перевести песню так, что слова и музыка совпадали?"

Настя13: Сначала хочется сказать, что популярность английского языка в условиях современной жизни огромна, в связи с возможностью получения качественного образования, высокооплачиваемой и престижной работы и «нужностью» в других сферах жизни. Я давно увлекаюсь изучением английского языка. Стараюсь читать книги и слушать песни на английском. Кроме того, мне интересно, на каком уровне мои знания в области сочинения и перевода с английского на русский язык, ведь раньше я писала короткие стишки. Второй причиной было наверное то, что я люблю участвовать в олимпиадах и конкурсах, особенно в тех, где можно проявить логическое и нестандартное мышление. Моя подготовка заключалась в том, что я переводила как можно больше текстов с английского на русский язык. Также я пробовала переводить с русского на английский, что считаю хорошей подготовкой к олимпиаде. Кроме того, я учила новые слова, которые в результате мне понадобились при переводе текста №4. С помощью олимпиады я ожидаю знакомств с новыми друзьями. Оно менялось в зависимости от задания. Когда я слушала песню, то на душе стало светло и появилось весеннее настроение, а когда я переводила текст №4, то я погрузилась в размышления о космосе. Я думаю, что лучше всего у меня получилось сочинение стихотворения. Этого я достигла благодаря тому, что когда-то пыталась писать стихи и, наверное, у меня что-то получалось. Труднее всего было перевести текст задания №4 не потеряв его смысла, потому что текст был полон философских идей и довольно сложен для понимания. У меня есть огромное желание участвовать ещё раз в этой замечательной олимпиаде. В будущем мне нужно будет более упорно заниматься на уроках английского языка и посещать дополнительные занятия моего учителя по предмету. Нам надо разработать план подготовки к данной олимпиаде и постараться победить! Спасибо!

Dasha Chembaeva: The most positive task to me was №3 for a number of reasons. Firstly, I have some problems with neck, so this exercise made me to warm up. Secondly, I was impressed by translating the whole poem, even if it was short. The most difficult task was second. I didn't know how to describe feelings of phlegmatic and choleric, but I read more about them. So now I pretend to be the best psychologist in the whole world, hehe. Motto: "Just enjoy yourself and your job". Question to participants: What can you say about tasks that were few years ago?
Dasha Chembaeva: Hello! My name is Dasha Chembaeva. I live in Severomorsk (it's Murmansk region) and study in 10 form. Every year I take part in olympiads.
