makingmefeel: The tranlator code: 1. You should know the original laguage very well. You should have just a huge vocabulary and good grammar - you should understand everything that you read. 2. You should the target language perfectly. You have to be literate and write correctly. 3. You shouldn't translate everything word by word - you should understand the sense and try to show it to your readers. For example, we have some ideoms in English, but if we will translate it to Russian precisely the same - nobody will understand it. So you have to find a Russian ideom with same sense. 4. You should know outdated words or maybe slang. Texts may be written in different styles. 5. You should know everything about the writer or a story of the text that you translate. It'll help you to understand what author tried to say. 6. You should be very intrested in text that you translate. Than more you're intrested, than more your translation will be intresting for your readers.

Belikina: Dear makingmefeel! Your Code is very interesting and detailed But you didn't present us your Vizit Card. Could you tell us about yourself ? And what about your favorite song of the Beatles? С уважением, Беликина Елена Викторовна, сотрудник кафедры иностранных языков ЦДО "Эйдос"

Kapitan_Kangaroo: Hello, everybody!!! Though I wonder Where is everybody? And with whom must I discuss the topic? Well.... My Code of translater 1. Grammar is the law.and it's ignorance is disrespectful to the language. 2. If the word can not be translated into the native language in the full sense of the word, use the other that sound nice for the boss. 3. Think on the language with which you work 4. Use all the features of the language. 5. A literal translation is not just a set of the words but beautiful connected story. Nikita

Belikina: Dear Nikita! Your code of translator is very unusual. Could you explain some points of the code? For example this one If the word can not be translated into the native language in the full sense of the word, use the other that sound nice for the boss. Waiting for your answer С уважением, Беликина Елена Викторовна, сотрудник кафедры иностранных языков ЦДО "Эйдос"

СCHESSTER: First of all I must say that there is a translator and interpreter. They both work with languages but their works is different. I will speak about an interpreter. She/ he must be: 1. Smart. He/she has to know a lot to translate details correctly. 2. Good-looking. He/she works with foreigners and represents his own country. 3. Sociable and tolerant. He/she has to deal with people of different cultures and peculiarities. 4. Well-mannered and gentle. He/she has to communicate with emotional people who can easily lose control. 5. Fluent in the foreign languages. He/she should know idioms and phrasal verbs not to get at a loss 6. Self-confident. He/she must be responsible for the truthfulness and correctness of his translations. 7. He/she must know the culture of a foreign country as well as his own one, because he/she should love and respect the natives. To sum it up I can say that to be an interpreter is not as easy thing though it’s really exciting, because it gives a lot of opportunities that is why this job appeals to many young people. I’m not exception=) Ilya

Kapitan_Kangaroo: Hello, Ilya! Haven't seen you for ages What do you think about charecteristics which a translater must hqave? How long does it take to become a translator? Nikita

Belikina: Octopus's garden I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus's garden in the shade. He'd let us in, knows where we've been In his octopus's garden in the shade. I'll ask my friends to come and see An octopus's garden with me. We would be warm below the storm In our little hide-away beneath the waves. Resting our heads on the sea bed In an octopus's garden near a cave. We would sing and dance around, Because we know we can't be found. We would shout and swim about The coral that lies beneath the waves (lies beneath the ocean waves). Oh what joy for ev'ry girl and boy Knowing they're happy and they're safe (happy and they're safe). We would be so happy, you and me, No one there to tell us what to do. I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus's garden with you.
