the way THEY speak

Olya-Lelya: We all know, that every country and every region of the country has it’s own dialect and trait of a language. English isn’t an exception. For instance, Australians, Canadians, British and Americans all speak English, but the difference is huge! This theme first caught my attention while I was traveling about five years ago, when a clerk in a souvenir shop didn’t understand what I meant and began explaining, that she just moved there from another state and is just getting used to “the way people talk here”. And till now, I keep discovering new things about a language that grew to be my second native. Have you ever discovered any national or regional distinctive speech features? Which particular quality caught your attention?
